Conference

The “3. Anwender Treffen GIS in nationalen Naturlandschaften“ and the “2. Workshop GIS within the network of alpine protected areas“ takes place first-time combined in the Swiss National Park (SNP). The event with partial simultaneous translation affords an opportunity to exchange experiences about the state of GIS-work and GIS-applications in protected areas. Concretely, we will pick up, present and discuss for protected areas relevant topics, like web-based GIS applications, portable GIS, real-time GIS, metadata, data analysis, data visualisation, actuality and update of data as well as European initiatives, like INSPIRE. The slogan of the event is named “from the practice to the practice” and there will be assured enough space for questions, discussions and examples of use. The target audience are prior GIS-resposibles and GIS-techniques of national parks, natural parks and biosphere reserves from Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia.

The event takes place in the accommodation of the National Park Centre in Zernez, Switzerland from 1. – 3. October 2009.

Zernez is classified as the gateway to the Swiss National Park and is situated in Engadin in the Southeast of Switzerland.
